Reckless Red

Happy Trails, Cowboy Bob

March 25th, 2010

Well, damn.  All good things must come to an end eventually.  Sound Guy Bob (Mr. CJ) has taken a job in Charleston, SC, and is stubbornly refusing to commute back to run sound for every RR show.  Selfish, huh? CJ will be staying here (kid-related issues mean leaving the state is out of the question right now) so RR will continue, but without a valuable member of our team.

This Saturday’s show at the Horseshoe Lounge in Denver will likely be Bob’s last show, and the last opportunity for our great and loyal fans to tell him how much they’ve appreciated him.  Come on out to a great bar, hear some gritty music, and raise a glass to Cowboy Bob.

Good luck, Charleston. We're sending you this.

The Living Room Thang

March 15th, 2010

Hey, all — CJ here.

Ever been to the Olde Towne Tavern in Littleton?  It’s my living room.  And my satellite office.  (If you ever hear me say that I’m going to “the office”, look for me on Main Street.)  I know pretty much everyone there, on both sides of the counter.  It’s the sort of dark-paneled just-tacky-enough dive bar that everyone feels comfortable at.  You’ll find everything from the crusty old guys, to the poker junkies, to the college crowd, to the rowdy students at the school for the blind next door.

So this Friday night, we’re playing in my living room, entertaining my drinking buddies, and it doesn’t get much more fun than that.  There’s no stage and no lights, but there’s good, stiff, cheap, stiff (stiff, stiff) drinks and a nicely strange crew to party with.  Hope you’ll all be there.

(Be sure to have a Reckless Red shot or two.  Two bucks.  OTT rocks.)

Late breaking news, y’all

March 6th, 2010

Ready for an unscheduled Reckless Red alert?

Part One is bad news — CJ is feeling pretty terrible today. She’s really sick and could hardly sing a note if her life depended on it. Ugh…

So Reckless Red *will not* be appearing tonight ( Sat, March 6th ) at Chapultepec Too on West 38th Ave as we had previously planned.

But Part Two is some other late-breaking news that’s much better:

Reckless Red is opening for Jason Ricci & New Blood (www.jasonricci.com ) *this Thursday night, March 11th* at the Toad Tavern in Littleton ( 5302 S. Federal Circle ). Jason is a wild harmonica dude out of Nashville who has a killer band, tons of bluesy accolades, tours like a madman and puts on a great show — we’ll go on at 7:30 and tickets for the evening ( $12 ) are available at www.ticketswest.com and at King Soopers stores.

Then after a great night with Jason, we immediately get back to the rest of our scheduled March appearances, starting with Lincoln’s Road House the very next night ( this Friday, March 12th ).

So take your pick from the RR calendar — but whatever you choose, come see us again sometime, OK?

We now return to your regularly scheduled web surfing…

Air Time

March 3rd, 2010

Never been this busy before… kinda nutty.
Had a blast at the Little Bear on Saturday …and again at the Toad Blues Fest on Sunday.
Tons coming up…including some RR opening up for Jason Ricci ( www.jasonricci.com ) at the Toad on Thurs Mar 11. Should be a really great show!
Keep your eye on that schedule - and come out and say hi sometime soon!

Red and Sorta Blues

February 15th, 2010

The Toad Tavern is cool.

Why?

Because they’ve got a sweet stage. Because they have an excellent sound system too. Because they believe in local music. Because they’ve become an attractive venue destination for smaller touring artists. Because they put together an excellent mini-blues fest that’s coming up really soon.

And because they invited us to play at the Blues Fest even though Reckless Red is a sorta-but-not-really-blues band.

The details? It’s an all ages event on Sunday evening, Feb 28th from 4 to 9pm with a great lineup and a great price. Come on out, have some dinner, sit back and enjoy the fine tunes from some of Denver’s best!

Tickets are at www.ticketswest.com or King Soopers …you can also print out the tickets below and get the discounted price at the door before 6pm. See you there!

Roadhouse Joe: 4pm
Teresa Lynne Band: 5pm
Reckless Red: 6pm
Paul Soderman & BluezHouse: 7pm
The DeltaSonics: 8pm
