CJ is broken

How many people can find a way to fall UP the stairs? Well, I can and i have a cast to prove it. My wrist, elbow, and finger are in little pieces which goes to show you that i do nothing halfway. The good news is, this cast is an awesome weapon.

Come out and see me looking ridiculous on stage at the Skylark.

This message took ten minutes to type. Grrrrr.

It’s Uphill From Here

Wouldn’t you know it — the mighty airplane flying overhead inside the Hangar Bar ( lovingly constructed from beer cans …the airplane that is… ) is fully decked out in Christmas lights.  And it’s a little spooky, but somehow that plane sculpture seems to get *bigger* every time.

It was a swingin’ night, with Martin Gilmore on hand to stir things up a bit.  Martin’s part of a stellar Colorado bluegrass band called Long Road Home - and you better check ‘em out if you haven’t yet ( www.myspace.com/longroadhomebluegrass ).  CJ took a vocal break while Martin fronted the Reckless Red boys for a whack at some Hank music and a few other choice tunes.  Folks seemed to appreciate the shift of gears regardless of their intoxication level.

Glad to see some Reckless Red faithful assembled ( you know who you are! ), and it’s always a kick to see who’s just climbing aboard the RR train.  Sometimes we get to meet you ( like the folks who came on Sat. after seeing us at Lincoln’s awhile back ) and sometimes we don’t ( like the people who write messages afterward — “Great show …glad I came…” ).  But either way, we dig finding out that people enjoy the RR sounds.

Gonna head up the hill to the Little Bear on Thursday night.

Cold?…what cold?  No one will remember the temps outside when CJ & the guys get things smokin’ on the inside…

See you in Evergreen!

Meanwhile, back at the Hangar…

Played a larger-than-usual show on Friday night — hundreds of people, big sound rig ( thanks Skinny! ), lights-a-flashing everywhere ….and Saturday we’re headed for an utterly opposite experience: the little ol’ Hangar Bar on East Colfax.  No glamor, no coats and ties, no flashy stuff …just that scruffy old city bar vibe.

Seems like quite awhile since we’ve darkened the Hangar’s doorway.  Lorie and Co. have been working hard to serve up some fine bluesy music on Saturday nights, and this weekend RR is the main course.  We’re even bringing a special guest out to add some variety to the menu …so come out and get a taste!
