PAVILIONS

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Well, we got reckless yesterday in downtown Denver. A little wind showed up, blew out the potential afternoon rain, and cooled the oven enough. We had a real good time, and we sure appreciate that DANCER. I played a drumset provided by Philip Jongejan of North End Sound…a kit made by a Denver company called Darby Drums. I normally play drums made for me by Sam Bacco in Nashville. He has built three sets for me over the past few years, and I admire his attention to detail and the SOUND he gets from his process. I get asked about my drums frequently, just because they look and sound so good. What I played yesterday was a pleasant shock. Darby makes a hell of a drum, and you don’t need to buy from the usual suspects every time you want to expand or start fresh. I think they’re available through Rupp’s, or you can use your browser and get info on your own. Thanks, Philip, and thanks to the Hot Sounds Concert folks for asking us to play.

Crazy days!

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

It’s definitely crazy days for Reckless Red.  We’re halfway through the busiest ten days we’ve ever had, and having a great time.  Saturday night we played the Crown Hill Tap House, owned by Tyson of the Railbenders — great place to play, and we hope to be back there soon.  (You listening, Tyson?)  Sunday was Parapalooza VI (complete with CD release) at the Paramount Cafe, where we played with other great bands including the Demon Funkies and Fina Dupa.  (Sorry again to you Fina Dupa folks for the slaughtering I gave your name — I maintain that “Fine Dope” would be an awesome band name.)

Next up is the show I’ve been looking forward to all summer, Denver Pavilions Hot Sounds in the City with the Railbenders.  I love those guys, and we’re very happy to be included in a great line up this year.  A few days later on July 1, we’ll be opening for Leon Russell at the Soiled Dove.  Good times ahead for RR, and I hope you’ll be there to rock it with us.

Get in the Know

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

We’re still working on a few little bells and whistles for the new website — but what’s most noticeably missing at the moment is the sign-up box for our e-newsletter.  We like to send it out from time to time with upcoming shows, new music alerts, features, and such.  Hopefully we’ll have the sign-up widget running soon, but in the meantime, you can get yourself on the list by dropping us a line via our contact page.  We NEVER send unsolicited e-mail, so please be sure you specifically ask us to add you to the list.

Thanks!
